For 10 years now Cinna’s talent-spotting competition has been enabling young designers to get a project produced and sold in Cinna shops, so the brand’s 2017 collection includes the design by Aurélie Chapelle and David Machado that took first prize for lighting last year. As the name suggests, the Ondule desk or table lamp has an undulating silhouette that snakes across surfaces, its light creating contrast with the objects around it. The sinuous shape is the result of formal and experimental research into copper tubing, that material’s properties making it possible to create curves by employing a special bending technique. The duality between matt black and copper accentuates the lamp’s asymmetrical geometry as well as its ability to be angled as needed.
