Once the Marseille home of a family of Greek ship-owners, the C2's painted ceilings and panelled walls now shelter travellers in search of peace and comfort. Delphine the director welcomes them warmly. Among the delights are a few contemporary artworks, a spa and a room service menu available to outsiders too.

Grand Hôtel Beauvau
This historic hotel, 201 years old this year, saw George Sand, Chopin, Picasso and Sartre come and go. The man at the helm these days is David Bynau. We love the personal welcome, the bar and the view of the harbour with its fish market. The spa is the perfect place after a spot of shopping in town.
