Every year, Aix welcomes the spring with a comic-book makeover and the whole town goes crazy for the artwork of comix and graphic novels. Visitors and locals enjoy a carnival of cartoons as colourful drawings, as themed exhibitions and book signings invade the town’s cultural venues, shops and public places. The event’s HQ is «le Lieu 9» in the hallway of the tourist office. Also involved are the Cité du Livre and Atelier Cézanne. This year, artists in residence explore the iconography of Cézanne and Andy Warhol. In the town centre, from 4 May, primary and high school pupils and graphic novel fans are creating a vast mural in the form of a giant colouring game.
