In his fashion photos, the Surrealist with the camera managed to simultaneously express the seductive appeal of the ephemeral and a yearning for eternity. Man Ray frequented Parisian high society as well as artistic circles. In the 1920s and ‘30s, through professional and social encounters, friendships and love affairs, his creative spirit and inventiveness came to the notice of Chanel, Schiaparelli, Vionnet, Paul Poiret and other great couture houses. Vogue, Vanity Fair and Harper’s Bazaar featured his fashion photos. Two exhibitions tell the tale, one with Man Ray’s photographs and other items, the other with rare and emblematic haute couture garments. From 8 November to 8 March.
