Sharing talents

The 2022 season boasts 480 events and 800 artists and participants in 87 towns in France and 55 in Portugal. A rich and varied programme that nourishes the close friendship between the two countries.

Until 31 October when the season ends, culture, heritage, debates and novel events are strengthening the bonds between France and Portugal. There are some great moments in Provence for this 2022 season of friendly exchange. In May, Marseille hosted Lisbon’s Iminente street art festival. On 5 to 11 July, the Festival International de Cinéma in Marseille takes a look at Portugal with previews, emerging talents and some 130 films at Mucem and Théâtre Silvain. The Maria Helena Vieira da Silva retrospective at the Musée Cantini until 6 November follows her life-long exploration of perspective, urban transformation and architectural dynamics. In the Var department, Toulon metro area council has picked up the Portuguese theme. The Toulon Maison de la Photographie has already shown a contribution from Magnum Photos and now the Villa Tamaris photography and video centre in La Seyne-sur-Mer is showing Un Eté au Portugal. A wide-ranging exhibition with works by painters, sculptors, ceramists, photographers and videomakers from the 1930s to today. Galerie du Canon TPM in Toulon is celebrating street art from both countries in Styler, Regards croisés until 27 August. In Avignon, Iphigénie by Tiago Rodrigues, a rewriting of Racine’s play, is staged by Anne Théron. Also in Avignon, the South African dance company Via Katlehong perform a choreography by Marco da Silva Ferreira et Amala Dianor
