Leviathan by Andrei Zviagintsev

The 50-year-old Russian director the festivals adore once again casts an unforgiving eye on his country and its corruptors. Leviathan, which the director calls a loose retelling of the Book of Job but is built like a political thriller, denounces human duplicity while retaining a touch of humour. Best Screenplay award in Cannes.
