This summer the foundation stone was laid for the IMMS building at the Friche Belle de Mai site. IMMS (Mediterranean Institute for the Live Entertainment Arts) will bring together in one building third-year students of the Ecole régionale d'Acteurs de Cannes acting school and the apprentices of the future training centre for backstage occupations of Avignon's Institut Supérieur des Techniques du Spectacle. Classes should start in autumn 2015. The idea is to provide better training for jobs in theatre and allow trainee actors and technicians to work together. They will have everything they need: classrooms, rehearsal rooms, lecture halls and a theatre workshop providing a realistic, fully-equipped stage for practical work. D.J
