Latin vibes set the main tone at the Docks des Suds, for four frenetic evenings and one all-nighter lasting till midday the next day. So don't nod off before noon on 18 October, but let yourself be entranced by the mega-voices of our ladies of soul (Irma), fusion rock and funk (Karol Conka), plus rhythms from rap to pop, the suggestive movements of reggae and Brazilian samba, the almost-trans-gender chill of the Queens (Christine and The Queens) and some exhilarating electro disco vibes. Be beguiled by the sultry tones of Selah Sue, who's swapped her Belgian roots for English lyrics and a style that's from nowhere and anywhere. And then there's fusion from Catherine Ringer (who has explored Latin vibes before, with Marcia Bailai) and two Gotan Project musicians, Müller and Makaroff, venturing outside the group. Plaza Francia offers a nice balance somewhere between pop and tango, while Rapper Pigeon John, fresh from the US of A, will have everyone squeezing nearer the speakers. Jubilant sets by Massalia Sound System and Chinese Man & Deluxe Feat offer local lads and lasses a taste of home.
