MuCEM invites you to explore the nuanced soul of the Mediterranean region through the prism of Judaism, Islam and Christianity, its three monotheistic religions. A team of specialist anthropologists and curators have put together a richly prolific exhibition about the places where devotees of all three religions share the same rites and practices. We learn how they venerate the same holy sites (e.g. in Sinai, Bethlehem, Mount Carmel, Hebron) and the same biblical figures (Abraham, Moses, Rachel, Mary). Sculptures and paintings from the Louvre, the Musée du Quai Branly, the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire du Judaïsme in Paris as well as religious and ceremonial objects from private collections in– North Africa or Istanbul, photos, videos and films illustrate a theme that
fits perfectly with MuCEM's vocation as a museum dedicated to Mediterranean civilisation.
