The international festival of fashion and photography in Hyères celebrates its 30th birthday this year. Each year it unfailingly rewards the most promising designers from around the world.

The 2015 edition looks to be a stunner. Guest of honour this year is fashion house Chanel – which means Karl Lagerfeld is the festival's creative director, Virginie Viard, director of Studio Chanel, chairs the fashion jury and Éric Pfrunder, Chanel's image manager, chairs the young photographers' jury. Other jury members include HRH the Princess of Hanover, Loïc Prigent, Carine Roitfeld, Sébastien Tellier, Joana Vasconcelos, Anne Cartier-Bresson, Kamel Mennour and Jean-Luc Monterosso. On the fashion side 300 applications from 56 countries have yielded 10 shortlisted candidates, while there were more than 700 photography applications, also with 10 shortlisted. So head to Hyères on 23 to 27 April to see what's on in the splendid setting of the Villa Noailles, an astonishing place built by Robert Mallet-Stevens for Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles in the 1920s, or at the weekend fashion shows in town. In case you're not free then, the exhibitions continue until 24 May – so there's really no excuse not to take a break in Hyères this spring. For those in the know it's a no-brainer!
