Each year, the alleys of Parc Jourdan welcome hundreds of emerging and established painters, sculptors, photographers, video makers and galleries from France, Europe and beyond.
Sm'art is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year and has invited that prolific and very private artist MAXB, who has over 4000 works on show in his studio-cum-refuge near Marseille as well as 1500 works with private collectors. Other guests of honour this year are Jean-Paul van Lith (with poetic, dreamlike ceramics, glass works and paintings), street artists C215, M.Chat and Jimmy C, and Yo Bastoni, best known for her sensitive, sensual monumental sculptures. The wide artistic diversity of this Mediterranean contemporary art fair also embraces the Rock'art movement with Dominique Capocci, Elisabeth von Wrede's secretive abstractions, Marie-Laure Morin's picnics, Mila's enigmatic canvases, Jorge Colomina's colourful world, Cédric Vernay's confetti and kinetic art by Nathalie Cohen. This brilliant, prestigious exhibition is orchestrated by scenographer Isabelle Fontaine.
