On the strength of its first edition last year, the Acontraluz open-air electro club party is back on the J4 Esplanade, with a bill put together by Edouard Rostand.

Last year more than 10,000 festival-goers flocked to the J4 Esplanade beside the MuCEM building to hear DJ sets by Brodinski, Fritz Kalkbrenner, Synapson, Infinity Ink, Jamie Jones, Joris Delacroix and more. This year the party lasts for three days, on Thursday 3, Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September, with even more on the bill. Each evening brings a different vibe: live urban music on the Thursday, deep house on the Friday and a tsunami of disco funk on the Saturday. In short, an eclectic cocktail and not just for electro fans. As well as The Magician, Todd Terje, Flight Facilities, Zimmer, Darius and the rest there will be food, chill-out areas, goodies and a heap of new things to discover. Not to mention the superb site, at the foot of the MuCEM and Fort Saint-Jean, with the La Major cathedral behind and the Palais du Pharo across the water. So expect a big and varied crowd of young, trendy, festive, switched-on people ready to go wild as the sun goes down over the water. Acontraluz' organisers aim make it a benchmark, a brand that will spread the music and culture of Marseille and its region far and wide. They are planning to further develop the Acontraluz model in France this year and start exporting it in 2016.
