Festival de Lacoste

 festival Lacoste 2016

For the 16th edition of this atypical festival the music will rise, as every year, above the chirping of the cicadas and the walls of the Lacoste quarries will resound to the applause.

From 14 July Pierre Cardin invites us once again to the heart of the Luberon to celebrate summer and the performing arts in a magical venue that over the years has introduced us to many a budding talent. Pierre Cardin organises this event in tandem with musical TV producer Eve Ruggieri. This year’s programme includes the brilliant tenor Jonas Kaufmann and two evenings with the legendary pianist Martha Argerich and friends (including Mischa Maisky on his Montagnana cello) playing Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Wagner and Saint-Saens. Gérard Chambre, a familair face here, offers a music hall show; there is an evening of Wagner’s great arias and another based on the letters of the Marquise de Sévigny. The festival ends with the Musicales de Luberon and the famous Accentus choir.
Those are but a few of the precious moments billed for these nine evenings. So let’s venture out through the Provençal countryside to the hilltop village of Lacoste between scrubland and bare rock, the ruined castle of the Marqis de Sade and the majestic quarries where the magic happens. With a glass of champagne as you go in!
