The Collection Lambert in Avignon is closed until summer 2015, for extension work. That’s just the moment to mount an exhibition in a place emblematic of Avignon’s heritage: the 18th-century Sainte-Anne prison, behind the Palais des Papes. The title comes from an article Pasolini wrote shortly before his death in 1975, lamenting the “disappearance of the fireflies“, those nocturnal insects whose nuptial displays are a ballet of winking lights. Here their light is preserved in the art.
