A show at MuCEM, with over 300 exhibits, tells the story of a small red berry whose virtues were first discovered by Ethiopian goatherds. Over the centuries coffee became the dark elixir we know and love. Between us we drink two billion cups a day and celebrate its virtues in the participative rituals of the café terrace or the café waiter race. Exhibits, talks and workshops remind us that for rich and poor alike, coffee has the last word at table. And has given its French name to the place where we drink it, from the elegant Café Flore in Paris and Café Florian in Venice to the cybercafé down the road.
