Choreographers Nicole and Norbert Corsino use dance to explore new spaces, and vice versa.

The two artist-choreographers have been researching the use of digital technology for 25 years. Now they have opened a cyber-studio, Scène 44, at Pôle Média Belle de Mai in Marseille where they are based. It is a lab for Belle de Mai’s artist residents as well as the production centre for their «choreographic navigations». In 2014 they were offered a 2500m2 screen in Shanghai. «We always wanted to take dancers out of the classic physical stage, so we have slid them across into these other representational dimensions that the new technologies open up,» says Norbert. This conquest of the virtual by bodies in movement turns the spectator into an actor. With interactivity, the screens are part of the dance. We too, with a click of the mouse or by moving around, can join the «choreographic navigation» that is the key concept in the Corsinos’ productions.
For their latest work they have focused on the gestures of the calligrapher. As part of France-Korea Year they have mixed signs, images and sounds to convey an experience of their meaning. Between the Lines references the cultures of Korea, India and China. Welcome to a multiple world of movement and artistic universality.

N+N Corsino, scène européenne, est présente en Corée, à Songdo et Séoul, jusqu’au 18 décembre.
