Inside Mœbius

Toulon seems to like top comic book artists! It hosted Enki Bilal in 2014 and now here’s Jean Giraud, alias Mœbius, who inspired Coelho, Lucas, Fellini, Besson, Cameron and many others in his time and collaborated with Jodorowsky and Manchette to name but two. Moebius’s work encompassed drawing, painting and film. It all began with the adventures of Blueberry, the anti-hero who underpinned Jean Giraud’s career for a decade. Then Giraud turned to science fiction with The Incal series, which partly inspired Blade Runner and The Fifth Element. This exhibition fills eight rooms, with unpublished archive material, rare editions and much more. An intense encounter with the artist, backed by inner adventures and explorations of savage lands.
