MAC: 20 years of Contemporary Art

Flash-back to 1994

With its current exhibition, the Musée d’Art Contemporain (a.k.a. MAC) celebrates the museum’s 20th anniversary and sets out to capture the spirit that drove its founders Bernard Blistène and Philippe Vergne. They put the museum on the international map with notable exhibitions like L’esprit Fluxus and shows of Dieter Roth and various American Conceptual artists. The exhibition brings together emblematic works of the period, with some commissioned for the opening in 1994 as well as works by César (the Renault VL 06 compression and the famous Pouce) and Jean Tinguely (L’Avant-Garde, 1988), Hervé Paraponaris’ stolen objects (Audition) and more besides.
