The abbey gardens have been awarded the Jardin Remarquable (Remarkable garden) label. As well as two hectares of romanticism and history in a kaleidoscope of styles and moods, the Italian and Mediterranean gardens around the 17th-century abbott’s palace offer a clear view of the Palais des Papes. Sheer delight. This summer’s special dates: 3-23 July 2014: the abbey gardens host a part of the Villeneuve en Scène festival programme. At 9pm each evening David Bursztein presents his new creation Welt, a humorous journey into Yiddishland. 30 August to 7 September: Abbyac. Exhibition of sculptures and ceramics by some fifteen contemporary artists, in the gardens.
