The Musée Granet and the Chapelle des Pénitents Blancs are both taking a fresh look at art from the first half of the 20th century. Bruno Ely, curator of the Musée, and Florian Rodari, curator of the Collection Planque, have brought together about 100 paintings they see as “non-figurative” rather than “abstract”. As well as work by Roger Bissière, a favourite of collector Jean Planque, there are paintings by Jean Bazaine, Elvire Jan, Alfred Manessier, Jean Le Moal and Gustave Singier – artists who shared similar sensibilities. Many of the paintings on show are from Swiss collections and rarely seen in public.
