This fine old mansion is hosting work by one of the most gifted artists of his generation. Around 100 artworks, many of them connected with the antiques market and the dealers who have made L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue famous. Chine.S derives from chiner, which means ‘to browse for second-hand finds’, which is how Philippe Favier gathered the materials for many of the pieces on show. Like the amusing “showcase”, produced as a numbered limited edition. Philippe Favier is like a nimble-fingered goldsmith, a philosopher and a watchmaker all in one. He makes us see his junk-shop finds as precious, thought-provoking objects.
