Hôtel Jules César, a local institution that had been slumbering on its laurels in recent years, needed a prince's kiss to wake up. The multi-talented Christian Lacroix played the prince and the hotel has sprung to life decked in his creations. Lacroix, who has a special love for the built heritage of his native town, worked with architect Olivier Sabran to restore the architectural spirit of the old monastery, built in 1664 and turned into a hospital after the Revolution, then abandoned for a while before becoming a luxury hotel. The 5-star hotel's next adventure is the opening this autumn of a spa opening onto the cloister. What more could we ask? V.R
