The Bouches-du-Rhône department tourism commission has had the tasty idea of a mobile app giving the addresses of more than 200 hand-picked gourmet restaurants in the region. It's called My Provence Tables 13.
Here's a welcome initiative, bringing together the stars of gastronomy from the entire department and many less famous addresses we'll enjoy passing on to each other. Tables 13, put together by demanding restaurateurs who want to promote their knowhow, aims to ensure high-quality cuisine using fresh produce, locally sourced where possible, prepared in the restaurant and served with a generous helping of conviviality. Whether "fast" food or gastronomic fare, all set out to be affordable. A paper version of Tables 13 came out last November and there's also a Facebook page with over 5000 friends. The project has done a lot to advertise itself and the app can be downloaded from the VisitProvence website at http://www.visitprovence.com/en/mobile.com. With the Tables 13 app. you can access heaps of information, advice and addresses directly from your mobile. It's a clever and practical tool for tourists, visitors and even the natives!
Quick and efficient
With the MyProvence Tables 13 mobile app you can choose your criteria (type of cuisine, price, distance, town) and find a restaurant at a click. Or you can just let the app select the 10 places nearest to where you are. This year the system has been extended to more gastronomic categories and now includes wines and local produce. An original way to make sure you end up in the right place!
