He is THE Patrick, the one every fortysomething in Avignon met at the door of Sholmes, hippest nightclub of the '80s and '90s, tucked away in the Rochefort-du-Gard hills. The physiognomist everyone remembers having welcomed them to some of the most memorable parties of their youth. Now boss at Les Ambassadeurs and the unrivalled master of Avignon party nights, Patrick has been a leading light in clubland since he was 20, when he went up to Paris from Aix to look for his father. Though that particular meeting didn't do much for him, others decided the fate of the lad from the provinces. Never-to-be-forgotten names and faces embodying the utterly extraordinary late Sixties, a time of relentless audacity when Paris was a hotbed with celebrities and unknowns, the wealthy and the broke, all sharing a mythic era. Patrick made his nightlife début at Pimm’s, the club started by Fabrice Emaer who went on to run the famed Palace. "I'm slightly bitter about those days when we thought we ruled the world, but I've no regrets," he says when talking of his friend Jean-Claude Brialy, of Yves Mourousi, Paquita Paquin and Loulou de la Falaise. The present context may be radically different but Patrick's principles haven't changed: respect and self-control. In 2015 he'll be celebrating his 65th birthday, 45 years in clubland and 15 years at Les Ambassadeurs.
