If you like cheese, let Emily Pon lead you into her world of gourmet delights. Cheese is her passion. Step into her shop in Eygalières and you'll be caught up in a whirlwind of flavours and aromas. She won't offer you AOC or AOP varieties, which she finds too uniform – having worked in the luxury industry she's alert to the value of a unique product. Luxury goods to cheese might seem a surprising move, but her cheeses are truly exceptional. Like "Father Antoine's nettle tomme" from Alsace, Lithuanian Džiugas and raw-milk farmhouse Stilton from England. The success of her first shop, in Marseille, confirmed Emily's vocation and encouraged her to open this second one, deep in the Alpilles. She has a special love for veined cheeses and devotes most of her spare time to hunting out rarities. A lately-discovered Shropshire Blue (an English raw-milk veined cheese with orangey flesh) stands next to a goat's-milk tomme with Espelette pepper, made by a remarkable German woman in Ariège! But in Emily's cheese shop nothing should surprise us. Top-rank restaurants like the Mas de l’Amarine come here seeking flavours to delight their customers. And Emily, like her cheeses, is out of the ordinary. "I love the smells of the countryside, of forest, grass and straw, which define my products. My travels and meetings with people are part of all that!"
