In September, the 9th edition of the famous Vendanges Etoilées event is taking place by Cassis harbour and in the narrow streets around it. Some 40 Michelin-starred chefs and all the local restaurateurs gear up for a three-day festival presided over by the famous wines of Cassis, which have had AOC status since 1936. The menu is enticing, with non-stop cookery shows, and cookery and pastry-making classes for all. At the producers’ and craft artists’ market you can find delicacies from Biscuiterie de Rognes, an astonishing array of sausages and terrines from Le Jean 1949, macarons and amaretti by Saveurs de Provence, olive oil and tapenade from L’Oliveraie and much more besides. The village restaurants offer special set meals and everyone enjoys the gala evening at L’Oustau Calendal.
