The 3rd biennale jury
The jury brought together by Dominique Juan and chaired by José Morales met at Dalloyau's in the Terrasses du Port shopping centre to confer over the 38 submissions in 5 categories and to choose the winners for 2014.
Three of the jury members brought with them thorough knowledge and wide experience in architecture. José Morales has won two prizes for his work and is currently lecturing at the school of architecture; architect and town planner André Jollivet founded and runs the Maison de l'Architecture et de la Ville in Marseille, which organises exhibitions and debates on town planning; and Turin-based architect Giovanni Cerruti specialises in the restoration of historic buildings and monuments. Each of the other members brought a differently knowledgeable viewpoint to the discussions. Katia Imbernon is a bookshop owner and publisher specialising in urbanism, architecture, decorative arts and contemporary art; Christian Pascal is the regional manager of building materials distributor Point P; Denis Luneau is director of the PACA region's energy efficiency programme; Jérôme Mazas, architect and landscaper (his firm is Horizons Paysages) also lectures at the national landscaping school; and Philippe Manni is an estate agent with an artistic bent who has been many other things in the past. Put all that together and what do you get? A sound and well-rounded judgement, as we see in the next few pages.
