Thierry Lombardi and Pascale Bartoli saw red! The Paul Ricard racetrack reopened 2009, having undergone a major modernisation and re-engineering since 2001. It now offers a second track especially for driving schools.

The Driving Center building serves as access to the circuit and houses reception services for the driving school. Austerely geometrical in design, it sits cantilevered atop a stepped concrete platform. The well-lit entrance hall runs through the building, with the debriefing room and cloakrooms leading off it. Architects Thierry Lombardi and Pascale Bartoli have produced an elegant building with all the sophistication we connect with car design. Outside, a broad, bright red porch provides a sheltered area for waiting drivers. The play of symmetries and the balance of the composition give the building a superb harmony. The elevations, with their striped effect and impression of weightlessness, give a graphic effect that instantly calls motor sports to mind.
