Philippe and Caroline Chauvin fell in love with the magnificent terraced landscape swept by sea winds and roasted by the sun. La Font des Pères, which opened in July, is a wine tourism complex centred on a farmhouse inn that wins unanimous approval from its guests. Sandrine Virefleau, in the kitchen, uses wines, olive oil, vegetables and fruit produced on the estate. No fewer than 190 chickens and 120 broilers complete the farm’s output, meeting demand from short-circuit outlets. Work continues on four villas; once they are finished, the estate will be able to sleep 60 guests. Philippe and Caroline, who had been coming to La Cadière-d’Azur for their hols since the late ‘70s, have now left Paris and live here all year round. It was
a wild gamble, but it’s a great success.
