This young Marseille designer, a specialist in the meticulous art of ‘origami couture’, has won her wager and will be able to present her collections in New York for three months. ‘‘The dream is coming true thanks to a crowdfunding operation I launched on KissKissBankBank to fund a good part of the rent for the Public Factory store at the SoHo Grand Hotel. The rent is €1575 a month – far too high for me, but that’s the price for 4m2 in the prestigious New York showroom.’’ The offer was made to her after she attracted notice last November at the Negresco hotel in Nice, where she was showing her collection. ‘‘It really made me want to try my luck. So I launched the crowdfunding operation and in 20 days it brought me the entire sum I needed: €3412 – about two months’ rent. I’ll start packing as soon as the holidays are over.’’ Noëlle Praticci-Roux will have the space at her disposal from November to January, renewable. She will be presenting some 20 pieces, three of four of each model. She describes her models as ‘‘surprising and different, but still chic, modern and sophisticated.’’ ‘‘My style? It’s structured, symmetrical, architectural.
